​Let Me Introduce Myself

I'm Steve Spratt, and I'm running for New Hampshire State Representative for House District 36, proudly serving the communities of Brookline, Mason, and Greenville.

​

I'm running because our communities deserve experienced leadership that listens, protects local control, supports strong public schools, and manages taxpayer dollars responsibly.

​

For much of my life, I've had the privilege of serving my fellow citizens here in New Hampshire. I've served on the Planning Board, as a Selectman, as Chairman of the Library Board of Trustees, and as Chairman—and now a member—of the Mascenic Regional School Board. Throughout my public service, I've worked to be a thoughtful leader, a team player, and someone who focuses on solving problems rather than simply talking about them. I believe in building consensus, finding practical solutions, and always protecting the interests of local taxpayers.

As a former State Representative, I served as Clerk of the Commerce Committee, a member of the Finance Committee, and Chairman of the Hillsborough County Delegation, which oversees the county budget. In each of these roles, I focused on responsible budgeting, strengthening our communities, protecting taxpayers, and working across the aisle to achieve meaningful results. I was honored to be named New Hampshire County Legislator of the Year in recognition of that work.

Public education has always been one of my highest priorities. As former Chairman and current member of the Mascenic Regional School Board, I've worked to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed while delivering the greatest value for every taxpayer dollar. I also served as Chairman and member of the UNH Cooperative Extension County Board and on its State Oversight Board, supporting programs that strengthen our communities through agriculture, conservation, youth development, and community engagement.

My professional career in marketing, communications, and strategic planning has reinforced a simple belief: the best decisions come from listening, bringing people together, and solving problems with facts, common sense, and respect for different viewpoints.

Outside of public service, family and community are at the center of my life. I'm married to my wonderful wife, Debra, who recently retired as a public library director. She now serves on the board of the Andres Institute of Art in Brookline and continues volunteering in the Mascenic Regional School District with our certified therapy dog.

​

When I'm not serving the community, you'll often find me in my workshop restoring our nearly 200-year-old brick home in Greenville. I also enjoy hiking, rock hounding, organic gardening, landscaping, and cheering on our neighbors' children at local sporting events and performing arts productions.

Deb and I share our home with two remarkable dogs—Sinjin, our 185-pound Great Dane (yes, he really weighs 185 pounds!), and Ronin, our Borzoi and certified Pet Partners therapy dog—as well as Akime, our 19-year-old Maine Coon cat. Some of you may remember Apollo and Kenji from my earlier campaigns.
